Summer Holiday Fun until Sun 5th Sep 2010Action-packed summer holiday fun is in store at Groombridge Place, near Tunbridge Wells, with a host of activities planned to keep children amused for hours.
In the Romany Camp in the Enchanted Forest they can learn to make their own dream-catchers and decorate them with beads and feathers to hang over their beds to ward off nightmares. And they can have their faces decorated with paint and glitter to transform them into butterflies, fairies or something scary.
From August 16 to August 20, and again from August 23 to August 27, visitors will be invited to find out more about the tough times lived during the years of the pioneers on the American North West Frontier. Meet Private Abel Willice (pictured) and his companion Molly will be recreating life in the 1780’s, talking about the native Americans, demonstrating their crafts, showing visitors how a Brown Bess musket was used and captivating children with their tales of life in that harsh environment.
New this year is Crusoe’s World, an accurate recreation of the desert island from the recent TV series Crusoe using props and artefacts from the film, which were shipped all the way from South Africa and the Indian Ocean. From July 24 to September 3 storytellers will be on hand daily to tell tales of the high seas and adventure.
