Caravaggio: A Life Sacred and Profane

Trinity Theatre

Fri 25th Jan

7.30 pm

Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio lived the darkest and most dangerous life of any of the great painters. The worlds of Milan, Rome and Naples through which Caravaggio moved are those of cardinals and whores, prayer and violence.

Having spent over a decade piecing together the scraps of evidence left of Caravaggio’s life Andrew Graham-Dixon answers questions that have long puzzled scholars about the extraordinary talent inside this explosive, fated artist. His insights and analyses will form the basis of his lecture.
